Many cities in the past have not been regulating vacation rentals, however this is changing and many are adopting regulations to deal with short term vacation rentals and encourage them to be safe and well-maintained. The City of Hallandale Beach has also adopted new rules to protect the character of established neighborhoods. According to the city’s website, a vacation rental is a single family house or dwelling unit that rents to guests more than three times in a calendar year for less than 1 month or is advertised to the public as a place regularly rented to guests. Cities do impose fines for violations so it is important to register and understand the rules associated to renting out short term.
