One of the many myths that home buyers feel is that owning a family home is less expensive to maintain than buying a condominium. Here are some of the questions that you may want to ask before coming to that conclusion.

Most condominium maintenance fees include building insurance, water, garbage, security, many amenities including heated swimming pools, tennis and so much more.

If purchasing house in many counties you pay for garbage separately not to mention insurance on a house may even require you to carry flood insurance. Whereas insurance may vary from areas and houses, it is a substantial amount to pay above normal expenses. Another consideration when financing this insurance needs to be paid upfront by the closing date. Water bill is another factor. On a condo this is part of the maintenance but on a house it is separate. Electric bills also exceed on a house as opposed to condos. Oh did I mention about the expenses of having a pool at your house, especially heated and oh the water bill associated with a pool. Most associations do have their own community swimming pool. What is Florida without it? What about tennis courts, would you like one at your house? It can be purchased , just need the extra land.

This is just part of the scenario of the myth in owning house verses a condo.
